Magazine Cover Peer Review

The magazine is called "Vidorra" and Emily Bryn made it.

I like that her magazine cover is simple up front yet there's a lot going on in the background.I also like how creative she was about the self portrait.

I think Emily could have made sure there was a little it more light in the picture.

I chose this cover because out of the few I looked at, it looked the most well put together and professional. The bright, contrasting colors in the background caught my eye.

Yes, there is a barcode.

I personally didn't really focus on the fact that there was a barcode, so no.

I can definitely tell it is a self portrait.

Prompt Shoot Peer Review

My favorite picture is the "footprints" photo. I think Kendall did a really good job of selecting what picture to put an effect on, it looks really cool in black and white. I also think the photo is very well focused and it just works really good as a whole.

The photo I least like is the "connected" one. I think it looks kind of awkward, the way the hands are placed. I feel like she could've made it looked a little more natural, but overall it is a nice picture.

I really like the creativity of Kendall's photography, her pictures are definitely out of the box, in a very pleasing way. I also like the way that her photography skills are very well portrayed, consistently, throughout all of her photos.

Overall, I think Kendall can improve the proximity of her subject. Even though all her pictures look really good, they are all up close, I think she could try to find a distanced subject for the next prompt.

From my perspective, I think she best portrayed the "footprints" prompt because it captures a foot leaving a shadow on the ground which could easily be considered a footprint.

From my perspective, I think Kendall's least successfully portrayed the "pose" prompt, even though its a really good photo, I don't see how the flower relates to posing.

2014 Favorites

Photos

This is one of my favorite pictures because it looks like a 

bunch of silhouettes and Skrillex makes the photo come alive.

I love this picture because I feel like it would've been a 

really awesome experience and I just think its a spectacular

 moment to have been captured.

This photo is another favorite because I have a really big passion for the sky and sun and  moon, and I have always been a city girl, so i feel like this photo reflects my interests, on some degree. The street lights five the photo a nice, soft touch and the sun is perfectly aligned between the train carts, so I really like this picture.

Habits(Stay High)- Tove Lo

As a music fanatic, making a "favorite" song choice was very difficult, however, seeing this title repeatedly along the sites of 2014's best, it dawned on me how much I actually do like this song. Habits is very upbeat and catchy, yet mature. The song definitely makes you wanna sing along and even sway to the music. Also, the fact that there have been so many remixes in 2014 alone shows their is quality in the song.

Movie

This is one of  my favorite movies of 2014. I have watched it over and over because I just love it so much. This movie is one of my favorites because it depicts society in a very unique form. The prejudice, discrimination, and segregation is evident within the society so I really like the way Tris shows independence. 

News Story

I chose this as the best news story of 2014 just because of how popular it became in a matter of hours.  Overnight, photographs from this shoot were all over the place, didn't break the internet but still managed to spread globally. The fact that it spread faster than most of the news in 2014, is what makes it best.

Person

Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield were amongst the most important people of the year. The power couple decided to use their fame to promote charities and help organizations that are out for a good cause. I chose the couple because they are taking advantage of their fame in one of the most positive ways possible; to help others. With all the frenzy from the release of Spiderman 2 in the summer of 2014, they had paparazzi on their backs year round, using their exploits to benefit others makes them the best of the year.

Entertainment Person

Youtuber and author, John Green, was a really big deal in 2014. A movie based on his novel The Fault in Our Stars, debuted in early 2014, only 2 years from the release date of the novel. John Green quickly became known all around the U.S., and soon enough, his fame spread throughout the globe. What makes him the best entertainment person is the fact that he still remains so humble despite all his glory, and that he has stayed true to himself and his youtube channel through all the highs of his career.

My Holiday

This holiday two things I will never forget happened to me, for christmas I got a macbook, which I was really exciting for me.The Day after christmas, I was surprised with a visit from my sister, she flew up to Texas from Florida and we had a really nice time. 

I didn't make any resolutions for the new year.

I am looking forward to getting closer to the day I move back home, to Florida. 

Final Exam

Extra Credit - 

1. The man that was killed by the subway in New York, Ki Suk Han, was pushed onto the tracks by a panhandler after trying to calm him down because he was harassing another.

2. The photographer said he was trying to warn the tar in's operator by using his flash.

3. If the photographer thought he had enough time to capture one quick shot and then help Ki Suk Han, then sure, it would've been alright to take the picture, but that clearly was to the case so no, I don't think the photographer should've taken the photo.

4. No the photographer should have helped the man instead of taking the picture. If he would have helped the man step out of the tracks, he would be seen as a hero, instead he thought of himself and had to get the job done, now seen as a "vulture."

5. I completely disagree with the decision to run the photo on the front page of a magazine. It is incredibly unethical, they are posting a death on the cover of a magazine and it is just so wrong.

6. I feel like journalists are trained to put on a hard face and focus on just capturing the image so maybe for a very few who are more thoughtful in terms of what they are actually doing i the big picture, maybe those care about stopping things from happening but really most of these people have families and a home and they are only thinking about getting their job done.

7. It is totally acceptable for a photographer to get involved in a situation that they are photographing. If they capture a few good shots and still have the opportunity to help someone, they should do it.

8. Yes, photographers should avoid influencing events as they happen because the way I see it is, if they're gonna make something happen in order to take a picture, why don't they just go to a studio and create a fake scene like the one they want, there?

9. The response that stands out as most appropriate is  that he used a lame excuse for not helping, how is the train operator supposed to infer from flashes that he is seconds away from running someone over? 

Final Exam Review

1. Captions -

Thomas and Franklin taming Sparkles, the horse after a long afternoon of training for the circus. Sparkles' brother passed away 2 days ago and she has been having a hard time focusing on her work.

Jeanette hugs her father, Joseph, tightly upon returning from college. Jeanette had been college bound for the past two years and this past holiday break was her first opportunity to return home to the U.S. from school in Sweden.
